Project Overview

Project: NINES – Proprietary emerging tech (Web3) Mobile App
Role: UI/UX Designer (Front-End Experience Design)
Goal: Create a seamless, branded mobile experience that bridges luxury fashion and blockchain engagement through NFC-triggered interactions and user wallet integration.

The Challenge 9dcc needed a proprietary platform to power its chip-enabled garments- something more secure, branded, and scalable than third-party solutions like POAP. The goal: build a mobile-first experience that would feel intuitive and aspirational, while inviting users to connect crypto wallets containing high-value assets. The key design challenge: build user trust while maintaining aesthetic and experiential integrity.
My ApproachWorking closely under the Creative Director (Brandon Sun), I was brought in to design the end-to-end front-end experience of the app, collaborating closely with the Creative Director, Head of Strategy, and Backend Engineer.
Key Contributions:
  • UX Flow Mapping: Designed the full customer journey, from first NFC chip tap to wallet integration and daily challenges
  • UI Design: Created a sleek, luxury-aligned interface that felt familiar to fashion consumers but native to Web3 users
  • Motion Graphics & Interactions: Designed micro-interactions and custom motion graphics to support gamified mechanics
  • Digital Asset Library: Built a full component system and visual asset library to support brand scalability across features

Process Highlights
  • Developed UI wireframes and prototypes to support both iOS and Android launches
  • Integrated Web3 onboarding flows (wallet connection, NFT display, points tracking) within a minimalist, brand-forward interface
  • Focused on transparency and user education to ease non-crypto-native users through onboarding
  • Maintained secure design principles while balancing smooth user interaction and elegant motion

Outcome & Impact
  • NINES became the primary platform for all 9dcc NFC-enabled interactions- replacing reliance on third-party tools like POAP(https://poap.xyz/)
  • Successfully built user confidence around wallet connection and real-time data interactions
  • Laid the foundation for a new kind of branded loyalty program- one driven by blockchain verification, mobile gaming mechanics, and fashion identity

Design Philosophy
I approach mobile UX design as a translation challenge, transforming complex systems into simple, beautiful flows. For NINES, the task was to make the blockchain invisible while making luxury, identity, and participation feel effortless and secure.
